Structural Insulated Panels are a very beneficial building system that has complimented timber frames since the beginning.  They are made of an Expanded Polystyrene foam core with outer skins of Oriented Strand Board.

Insulating Concrete Forms are a great way to create warm, dry, and comfortable lower level spaces like basements.  The Form is EPS foam and the core is poured concrete with reinforcing bars.

We mostly use coastal free-of-heart Douglas Fir, but we can source almost any timber species desired by the client. Other species are available such as Cedar, Pine, and Spruce.

Log homes are built by stacking logs horizontally to create the exterior walls.  Timber Frame homes use a framework of large, precisely joined timbers to create the structural skeleton, using SIPs for the exterior walls.

We mostly use coastal free-of-heart Douglas Fir, but we can source almost any timber species desired by the client. Other species are available as well, such as Cedar, Pine and Spruce.

Depending on where you are building, we may be able to take your home to weather-tight. Your Client Rep can discuss options available to you based on where you plan to build.

Under normal construction details and methods, the SIPs roof panels act as a vapor barrier, and a separate vapor barrier is generally not needed.

SIPs have electrical chases at pre-determined locations and can be customized if needed.  Plumbing is not advised to be inside of a SIPs wall cavity.  Our design team will specify interior walls that best suit plumbing needs.

The log and or timber frame structure will be installed on site by our crews.  The builder will install the SIPs,  with the assistance of our Technical Advisor

There are a couple of ways to minimize termites in a log or timber homes.  Keep all wood products elevated from the soil / ground.  This reduces the chance for termites to get into the structure.  If you’re in an area susceptible to termites, it is recommended to treat the surrounding footprint of the foundation of the home with an applied termiticide barrier.  The SIPs can incorporate a Borate based solution into the EPS to help keep pests out.

A 6 ½” SIPs panel has an R Value of 23.2. A 8 ¼” SIPs panel has an R Value of 30.

A 10 ¼” SIPs panel has an R Value of 37.8. A 12 ¼” SIPs panel has an R Value of 45.6.  We also offer a neopor product embedded in the EPS for higher R Values if needed.

For log homes, the R Value is approximately 1.5 per inch of log.  Log homes benefit from thermal mass, which helps regulate temperature beyond stand- alone R Value calculations.

SIPs do not off-gas as the expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam core pockets are filled with air.

Yes, we can design homes in areas that require WUI.

We can design homes using all types of roofing materials including standing seam metal,  asphalt composition shingles, wood shake, tile, clay, concrete, slate and more.

Typically for a log  or timber home it is every 3 to 7 years depending upon  variables such as climate, UV exposure, and type of stain that was used on the home.

SIPs have a Limited Warranty for 20 years.

Timbers have a 1 year workmanship and material defect warranty.

Timberlinx for timber frame, and non-settling hardware for full log wall construction.

We do not provide inspection services on existing homes

We do not sell logs on their own but contact your Client Rep to see if we have a solution for what you are looking for.

We do not provide staining services on existing log homes.
